Speaker Series: The Role of Private Capital in Building Affordable Housing for Resilient Communities
Affordable housing remains one of the most urgent challenges facing communities across the U.S. We continue to see a widening gap between housing costs and income levels. At the same time, rising construction costs and higher interest rates have made it more difficult to finance new projects. While public funding plays a critical role, it is not sufficient on its own to close the housing gap.
Affordable housing is not only a social imperative but also an area where thoughtfully deployed private capital can be catalytic in helping close critical financing gaps.
To deepen the understanding of how Clean Yield investments are putting capital to work in communities, we have invited representatives from three institutions doing this work on the ground to join us in our next Speaker Series conversation, The Role of Private Capital in Building Affordable Housing for Resilient Communities.
Clean Yield’s Kofi Kodua and Monica Charletta will moderate a panel featuring:
- Gabriel Treves-Kagan | Vice President, Development | Latino Community Credit Union
- Katie McQuaid | Senior Vice President of Philanthropy & Community Engagement | New Hampshire Community Loan Fund
- Sarah Phillips | Director, Housing & Community Facilities Programs | Vermont Community Loan Fund
Attendees can expect to learn:
- The misunderstood aspects of today’s affordable housing crisis
- Innovative financial structures or partnerships that have gotten projects across the finish line
- Where the largest financing gaps are today
- Exciting community-based, scalable solutions
