Living Our Values
Everything we do at Clean Yield is intended to create a positive, lasting impact on the world. We set out to accomplish this goal through our sustainable asset management services and impact investment strategy, which are designed to align client values and financial return.
Clean Yield Is B Corp Certified
How we operate our firm is a critical part of how we live our values. Since our founding in 1984 we have operated our business to consider its effects on our community. It is also why Clean Yield is proud to be B Corp Certified.
B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of accountability and transparency on factors ranging from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices. This designation marks our commitment to making a positive impact on all of our stakeholders through how we operate. These stakeholders include our employees, customers, community, and the environment.
We are reviewed by B Lab every three years in order to recertify as a B Corp. You can review those reports and our continual impact improvement on the B Lab website.
What Does It Mean to Be a Certified B Corporation and Vermont Benefit Corporation?
Our incorporation as a Vermont Benefit Corporation builds our mission and stated public benefit into the DNA of our business. The purpose of our organization and our measurement of how we have advanced our mission are included in our articles of incorporation and operating documents. As a B Corp and one of the first registered Vermont Benefit Corporations, we integrate our values into everything we do as a business.
Recent and Ongoing Initiatives
Community Engagement
Clean Yield employees are given dedicated volunteer hours and philanthropic dollars to allocate at their discretion. The firm also contributes 1% of its annual revenue to local organizations through charitable giving.
Employee Engagement
Clean Yield provides generous benefits to its employees, including health insurance coverage at no cost to the employee, individual professional development coaching for all team members, and participation in our profit-sharing program.
Environmental Impact
Given that employee commutes and travel were the leading sources of our firm’s emissions, we transitioned to a remote-first firm and are reviewing and improving our Scope 3 emissions data to understand and manage our environmental impact.
Clean Yield Impact Reports
We are proud to publicly report our impact and progress to improve through our biennial impact reports. Each Building Resilience report highlights our efforts to make a difference in the world and serves as our Vermont Benefit Corporation Reports.
